Neurodiversity describes having a brain that works differently from the average or “neurotypical” person. Examples of this can be social preferences, ways of learning, and ways of communicating. Neurodiverse conditions included Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, and Tourette’s Syndrome. We’re proud to introduce our new board member, Michael Pereira!

For years, Michael worked for Corporate America but then realized how important it was to have a plan for life outside of work. When Michael’s son was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in 2022, he began researching resources around Financial Planning as well as Special Needs but unfortunately, came up empty handed with inaccurate information.

Michael decided to start his own Financial Services Practice and his very own Blog, with the goal of sharing valuable information and personal experiences with the Special Needs Community!

Autism is known as a spectrum disorder because their is a big variation in the type and severity of symptoms individuals with autism experience. Some individuals may avoid physical touch while some may like it and some may be nonverbal while others may be able to have a full conversation with you! Either way, it is extremely important to get a complete evaluation from a qualified medical professional so they can be referred to therapy and other interventions that can help them grow socially and academically!
